Training Institutions in Uganda

Training Institutions in Uganda • Updated 2026

Choose the institution after you verify the programme.

Uganda has universities, other tertiary institutions, technical colleges, vocational institutes and skills centres. The safest career decision is to verify both the institution and the exact programme before paying fees.

This directory refreshes the older Career Guidance list. It is a selected guide, not a complete national register. Use NCHE for higher-education accreditation and the Ministry TVET portal for current technical/vocational providers and admissions.

Institution names and structures change

Several names in the older Career Guidance book are no longer the best current wording. Some former colleges have become university campuses, while the TVET Act 2025 changed the legal structure and names of some specialised institutions.

The list below keeps familiar historical names where useful, but clearly marks the current institution or the point that should be verified before enrolment.

Accreditation matters more than popularity. NCHE cautions learners against enrolling on unaccredited institutions or programmes, because awards from unaccredited programmes or institutions may not be recognised.
