Chapter Two: Skills Required in the Informal and Formal Sectors

Visual Career & Skills Explorer • 2026

Do not only read about a skill. See the work.

This visual explorer places real photographs and practical videos beside the machines, tools, products and occupations mentioned in the Career Guidance content. Learners can see what a maize mill looks like, how feed is mixed, how blocks are moulded, how welding is done, what an electrical training board looks like, how a motorcycle is repaired, and how practical skills become products, services and businesses.

Safety first: These photographs and videos are for career exposure and supervised learning. Welding, electrical work, machinery, chemicals and power tools must only be operated under trained adult/instructor supervision with the correct PPE.

  1. I wish I had known this website earlier things would be much better on myside. The years I spent on kyeyo in Dubai without knowing some of the fields which I would have applied here in Uganda. Anyway through Learn with Grandma, I have known what to do.
